2 How to convert your list into buyers.

Once you have the list of buyers, you need to be able to convert them into buyers of your products.

This is usually the missing link that gurus do not tell you about. The way to convert your subscribers into buyers of your products is to be able to build trust.

If you can provide substantial value to your subscribers online and through the content that you share,

they will come to trust your expertise.

However if you provide ‘crap’ online, you can easily lose that trust. Always provide genuine value and the product will sell itself later.

Of course, one of the ways to get a list of subscribers is to be able to get lots of traffic to your website.

IRAL MARKETING ON STEROIDS. In Day 22 of the A-Z Challenge which coincides with the letter V. I think the most appropriate topic to talk about is how to transform your marketing into a viral form of marketing that can spread like a ‘virus’ online.

By applying viral marketing to your blog or website, you can attract tons of traffic to your website. Well, if you have been following my blog, you know that traffic is the main source to increasing your cash flow. More traffic, more cash, and more money in the bank.

 

Now what is viral marketing you may ask?

Viral marketing refers to a strategy to encourage visitors to spread your marketing message.

Think ‘Tupperware’ as synonymous to plastic storage containers and Google to search. These are brand names that have become viral.

 

Here’s a few ways to make your marketing go viral

1Give away stuff for free

If you have written articles, eBooks or templates that will be useful to your subscribers or audience, you can give it away for free on your website. This allows you to build your subscriber’s list and at the same time if your freebie is of a high quality, you can attract lost of viral traffic as people start talking about the high quality of your free gift and how useful it has been for them.

2Make it easy for people to share

This is really self explanatory  if you allow people to easily share your marketing message via Twitter, Facebook or other Social 2.0 websites,you can encourage people to spread your messages wild and wide.This works especially well for sites such as Pinterest whereby you can  encourage visitors to share a picture or a funny graphic and very often the weirder it gets, the more attention it receives.

Do not forget to scale the systems and infrastructure that your marketing message is being distributed from. I remember once, when I was going a blog campaign to give away a free eBook on step-by-step methods for newbies to get started online, only to realize that my website was done only 2 hours into the campaign. The reason was due to the server’s inability to sustain the huge amounts of traffic that I was receiving at one time.

Remember Hotmail, when they started this viral campaign by putting a line at the bottom of every one’s email message to get Hotmail, this was how Hotmail became viral and the infrastructure was able to cope with the new load that it was attracting. Contrast this with the Netscape campaign. Netscape attracted lots of new users to use their then dial-up programme by giving a CD away for free, giving a free amount of dial-up service, only to find that the servers were not able to cope with the additional demand.

Nothing will irritate customers more than not being able to receive the service you need.

4Leverage on other people’s communication networks

Authors are very fond of using this method. Writers will usually distribute their content on other people’s magazines or ezines, hoping to leverage on their media and network to gain wider exposure for their writings.At the same time, you can also use the same strategy by contributing your content to other people’s blog as a guest post or contribute articles to article directories and videos on video sharing sites. By leveraging on other people’s network, your marketing will spread like a’virus’.

One of the key reasons why people do not make it online and drop out half-way is the lack of traffic.

Look, if you own a retail store, you need food traffic to your store, same if you own a cafe, restaurant or any other business either online or offline.

So why should it be any different when it comes to your online business?

Traffic is NUMEBRO UNO to the success of your online business.

Here’s what traffic can do for your online business

1Generate subscribers for your list

Yes, without traffic online, no one knows that you have built a website besies your Aunt Annie or family members whom you have told. That is fine if you are building a family blog to store memories or keep in touch with relatives who are staying apart in another city or another part of the world. However, if your main aim is to create a source of income online, then you absolutely need to have your selected audience know that you exist.

2Turning visitors into paying customers

Having traffic will allow you to turn visitors to your blog or website into paying customers eventually. How many times do we visit a website or blog and make a purchase immediately? I think the chances are very slim. Having traffic and a list allows you to build a list of subscribers and build a relationship with your subscribers before they learn to trust you and view you as the Guru or expert in that field. Once you are a recognized expert in that niche, you can attract buyers literally like ‘bees to honey’.

So how do you attract traffic to your website or blog

There are several ways to attract traffic to your website

  • Write and contribute articles.

This is one of the effective ways to generate traffic to your website if you have more time than money when you are just starting out online. I have used this strategy to begin building my list online when I started.However, this method is a lot slower and you have to write copies amounts of text before you can attract a huge list. Also the articles that you have written have to be related to the niche you are in or in complementary niches in order to yield the best effect for building your list.

  • Buy Ads

If you have more cash, you can begin by buying ads such as Google Adwords, Banner ads or blog ads on related websites or blogs with a link back to your blog or website squeeze page. This allows you to build your list of subscribers and you can continue to keep in touch with them.

  • Create a video with a link to your website

Another methods that I have seen friends use very effectively is the use of video marketing. What you do is to create a series of videos, each sharing one or two tips in a related topic in your niche. You can post it on Youtube, Vidmeo and all other video submission sites to drive traffic back to your website.

  • Create Facebook post

If you have a lot of Facebook Fans, you can do a short posting announcing the start if your website. This can drive visitors to your website.

  • Create a Squidoo Page

Squidoo allows you to promote one item or product online. However if you are using this as a traffic generation method, be sure to provide lots of valuable information with a link back to your squeeze page or website for more information. By using Squidoo,you are leveraging on the high PR page rank to drive traffic to you.

These are just some of the main traffic methods to drive traffic to your website. A-Z Blog Challenge Day 8 : If I were to Start All Over Again with $170 Dollars

Recently, I was asked this question by a subscriber.

“If you were to start all over again with only $170, what would you do?”

 

So I thought I will share with you all about this topic as it also coincides with today’s letter “I”

Here’s what I would do

1) Register for a domain name

This is one of the most important step. Most newbies think they can make-do with a domain that rest on other people’s hosting such as Blogger or WordPress. However, if you want to build credibility for your business, you need to be able to build a strong brand and having a dedicated domain name is one of the best ways to do that.

You can register for a domain name with either GoDaddy.coom or namecheap.com. My preference is namecheap.com. This month’s discount code for April’s domain name registration is “TLDSALE” to get your discount.

 

2) Set up squeeze page

This is a simple web page that allows your subscribers to enter their name and email address in a small form. This allows you to capture their names and email address and continue to communicate with them. In order to increase the number of subscribers who leave you with their name and email address, it is always good to give away something that is valuable such as an eBook with tips on how to build an online business or information that allows your subscribers to be able to solve their problems.

3) Start driving traffic and building a list of subscribers

I would then start to drive traffic and this is the area that I am going to spend some money online. I will buy some ads from online newsletters in order to drive traffic to my squeeze page. So if I were to spend $50 per ad, I will be able to get 3 ads. From 3 ads, I usually will be able to get 100-300 subscribers.

Thereafter, I will spend my time writing articles and contributing to article directories and other

e-zines to drive traffic back to my squeeze page.

4) Build a relationship and find out what subscribers want

Once subscribers have given me their names and email addresses, I will continue to write and email to them to build a relationship with them. I need to earn their trust before I earn their dollar. Once I have a list of 500-1000 subscribers, I will email them a survey or ask them a question on what are the areas in XXX area they are facing difficulties with. When I have a list of their responses, I will sort them according to the number of people who have the same problems, and then I will start looking and sharing a solution with them.

5) Recommend products and services that can help them solve their problems

Once you know what pressing issues they have, you can

  • Start to look for a solution
  • Create an eBook on the solutions if you are an expert in this area.
  • Recommend products or services that will help your subscribers.

So for instance, if I have a list of 1,000 subscribers and I know their problem is with creating a website, I will recommend products to them that can help them build a website that can easily be updated. So with 1,000 names, if only 10 people buy from me for the first time at $50, I will be able to earn $50. I will continue to send out another email and this time, my conversion rate may increase by another 5 more to have 15 people, then I will be able to earn $750 for a total sales of $1250.

So if I were to do the math

  • Domain name about $10.00
  • Web hosting $100.00 per year
  • Total sales: $1250.
  • Advertising $150.00
  • Net sales: $990.00

This is how I will get started if I ever have to start all over again.

With the amount of money that I have made, I may spend more on traffic to increase the number of subscribers or outsource article writing to others.

The key really likes in building a list of subscribers who are interested in what I have to offer first.

Serve through selling.

HOW TO DRIVE TARGETTED TRAFFIC TO YOUR WEBSITE USING FORUM MARKETING.

I have recently been experimenting with one form of traffic generation with relatively good results. The best thing is that there are both FR.EE and paid methods of generating online with forum marketing. I find this method of marketing to be one that is relatively friendly as everyone is helping one another and in the process make sales for your business.

This is a long post as I list what I have learnt from this process and I hope it will help you along as well.

Forum marketing still works to drive traffic to your website. Much as this method of generating traffic is now less prominent given the array of social media traffic generation methods, it is still a good way to generate qualified traffic to your website.

Visitor and members of a forum cluster in the same place online as they have expressed interest in a particular niche. It is an online equivalent to meet up of people with similar interest.

Thus if you are promoting a travel accessories product, you might find your best prospects amongst visitors to a travel forum.

AB’s forums is a good place to begin learning about forum marketing as it attracts quite a fair bit of traffic. As usual, he allows links in sig files.

(5) OTHER WAYS TO FIND FORUM

If you are not in the IM niche, you can still use forums to participate in by doing a search for them on Google. Alternatively, you can use your “keyword” +”inurl” operator to find forums related to your topic.

HOW TO POST ON FORUMS

(1) POST REGULARLY
In order to use forums as a means to generate traffic online, you have to be a regular poster.  If you are regular on a forum, it shows others that you are trustworthy and in this niche for a long time instead of some ‘fly-by-night’ operation.

You also need to post on highly visited threads in order to gain greater visibility online. It is best to comment and post on threads that have just been started for the past few hours instead of an older post as this means that your post may be buried deep within the comments of others.

(2) CONTRIBUTE BY POSTING GENUINE CONTENT

Contribute to the threads only if you have information and wisdom to contribute. Do not overdo it. Commenting on 2-3 or maximum of 5 posts a day is enough to put your sign files in front of a lot of people visiting the forums.

If you overdo it by commenting on more than 20-30 posts a day, you can sometimes be viewed as a spammer.

Do not post senseless comments. Contribute by giving information that helps of deliver genuine value to the formers.

(3) SEO FORUM MARKETING

This is one aspect of forum marketing that some marketers miss. On highly trafficked sites such as Warrior Forums, Google crawls them frequently. If you happen to comment on a highly popular thread, it is not unusual to find your post appearing on the top of the Google page for that particular keyword.

If you are creating a new thread or commenting on one, it is better to include some of the keywords related to your website in the post so that can gain the search engine traffic that comes along from individuals looking for that item.

PAID TRAFFIC VIA FORUMS

Besides using FR.EE methods of generating traffic online, you can also use paid traffic methods in forums to drive traffic to your website. Here are three ways to do so.

(1) PAID BANNER ADS

 

The popular forums are able to generate a lot of traffic online and hence there are lots of people who would like to advertise on them. Many forums including the Warrior Forums allow for banner ad placement on their sites and they rotate them between the paid ones each day. Banners are usually placed at the top of the page and you can get lots of exposure from them. Currently on Warrior Forum, they allow a maximum of 10 banners on a day.

Here’s what to do once your ad is accepted

  • Design an ad
  • Add a link to your squeeze page or website of you are collecting subscribers or building up your list.

(2) PAID TEXTUAL ADS

There are some forums such as the Warrior Forum where you can be a paid classified ad or a contextual ad to promote your product or service.

On Warrior Forums, you can

  • Pay $40 and create your own ad to promote your product or service.
  • They also offer a classified ad for $20.
  • Since there is a huge amount of traffic running through this forum, you can get a pretty good response for your product or service if you have designed an ad that attracts lots of interest.

There are numerous other forums that have a similar feature for paid ads. As with all forms of paid traffic, the  key things is to remember to set up  your sales funnel ahead of time so that you can convert the leads to subscribers and subscribers to paying customers.

This also includes your plan for adding one-time-offers (OTO) once someone has made a purchase via your online link.

There are many who use this method to build up their list and sell them on the back-end instead of adding a direct link to their sales pages.

Forums, like social media sites give Google a good idea of what people are talking about, what topics are trending, so it is not uncommon at all for posts to show in the search engines. There are benefits to marketing in the forums using both free and paid methods. It pays to learn this method of traffic generation to give your online business a boost.
