How to Generate More Readers for Your Blog

traffic

Readers are the life-blog of every blog. Every blog creator is concerned with increasing the readership of their blog.

Here’s a few simple ways and low-cost ways to generate more readers for your blog

Join a Blog Contest

Joining a blog contest gives you exposure to other similar bloggers writing on a similar topic. By joining a blog contest, you not only generate greater traffic from all the rest of the contestants, you also increase your blog posting schedule and in this increase in content posting will keep readers coming back for more.

The organizer of the contest will also drive traffic to your blog as they try to promote their blog contest. This shared community will drive more readers to your blog

Join a Blog Carnival

This is one of the earliest methods I used to increase readerships of my blog. In just 30 days, I have increased the number of readers from a paltry 56 to 170 readers. This represents a growth rate of 200% growth in just 30 days.

I benefitted by gaining momentum to get my blog going at the start and benefit from the additional traffic from the blog linking to one another.

Register with Search Engines like Tech.norati

When you have written a new blog post, you can submit your new post url to websites like Techno.rati  or red.it. This immediately alerts readers who have subscribed to the topic you have written on that there is new content for them to check-out. Both websites are high traffic websites and you can benefit from this additional boost of traffic.

Repurpose your content

When you have a new blog post, you can generate additional traffic by repurposing your content. You can turn the same blog post into an audio pdf and submit it to podcasting sites, you can add graphics to your blog post and turn them into slides and post on slide.makr. Alternatively, you can turn the key picture on your blog post and post it to Pinterest to generate additional traffic from your Pinterest account which brings us to the next topic on leveraging on social media.

Leverage on Social Media

You can leverage on social media by tweeting a link from you blog url to your followers on your twitter account and encouraging others to retweet your post. There are others who have driven traffic to their blogs by posting updates on Facebook. If you find it hard to manage so many different posting on different social media platforms, you can control this by getting Hootsuite which allows you to get updates from all your social media accounts all in one place.

Guest Blog

This is one of the recommended ways to drive traffic to your blog. You can guest post for related blogs especially blogs that have a lot of readers. If you are a regular reader of a particular blog and you find an angle which benefits the readers of the blogs, you can write to the blog owner and propose a few article ideas. Not every blog owner is going to accept your articles but you can also guest post for similar blogs.

  • First research a list of related blogs
  • Compile a list of blog owners and their emails
  • Propose a few article ideas
  • Send email to the blog owners with a summary of your article ideas or the first paragraph of your article so they can get a peak of your writing style etc.
  • Here’s a link to the popular website article on guest blogging by the author of IWillTeachYouToBeRich.com. Ramit has lost of practical ideas on how to improve your personal finance using behavior theory and he manage to increase readership of his blog to 150,000 in one week. You can check out his article here ==> How to Get 150,000 people o read your blog post in a Week

How do you identify article ideas? Check out Crawlytics which allows you to see what are the most read topics in your competitor’s blogs

==> https://socialcrawlytics.com/

Write for related publications

The last tip is related to guest blogging but you are taking the strategy and trying it with offline publications. By submitting articles to print magazines or newsletters, it increases your credibility and helps you reach out to readers who do seldom go online to search for information. If you manage to have your article featured in recognized industry publication with a link to your blog, you can drive traffic from offline readers back to your blog.

Let us know which of the above methods works out well for you?

The greatest failure is the failure to take action. You do not have to prefect the first time, you just need to get going.

A-Z Blog Challenge: Day 26. Zoom in on the Summer

ZOOM IN ON THE SUMMER SEASON

Well, I can’t believe it that 30 days has passed us by so quickly and we are at the last day of the A-Z Blog Challenge. In today’s blog post, I want to add a word about making your first sale this summer.

Summer is usually a season whereby most online marketers will face a ‘dip’ in their income as people are outdoors more often to enjoy the sun.

So if you continue to promote affiliate products such as info-products, you may find a ‘dip’ in your business unless it is a need this summer.

Info-products that may continue to do well include weight -loss such as ways to trim tummy fat as people want to look good in their swim suits or bikini.

Another area to boost your affiliate income may involve travel related affiliate products as most people are out and about this summer. Other products include

  • Seminars and courses
  • BBQs and equipment
  • travel accessories and RV travel information
  • Websites that depend on adsense revenue.

This post wraps up our A-Z Blog challenge for April and I have had a wonderful experience.

Although there are some lapses and delays on certain blog post during this period, but taking part in a challenge has motivated me to spruce up my blog on an almost daily basis and update it more regularly. I have also written 26 tips to becoming a better affiliate in this challenge.

A-Z Blog Challenge: Day 25:Yield versus activity

YIELD VERSUS ACTIVITY

Many people give up on their online business after some time as they find that their yield is very low.

That is the amount of time and effort that they have put in does not justify the amount they earn from their online blog or website In fact, a job at Macdonald’s may pay more.

That’s one reason why you need to measure the yield versus the activity.

If you are writing more content but they are not converting well, you may need to tweak a few things such as your headlines or subject lines.

Or if you are buying a lot of ads online to promote your websites but are not getting any sales, you may need to relook at the sales pages of your affiliate products or squeeze page.

Like they always say, you cannot track what isn’t measured. So if you diligently track your online activities, you will always be able to find ways to create that next breakthrough in your online business.

A-Z Blog Challenge: Day 24: X-tra value for Your Clients

XTRA VALUE FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS

in a sea of affiliates, how do you stand out from the rest?

The most important thing that will differentiate you from the rest of the affiliates is to provide x-tra value for your clients and customers who purchased through your links.

For instance, if you are promoting an eBook, consider if you can provide additional content of your own for customers who purchased through your link. In my case, I promote affiliate products that I have personally used and reviewed. Then I will create additional eBooks, templates or worksheets for customers who have purchased the product through my affiliate link. By doing so, I like to provide extra value and help them get the most out of the products that they have purchased.

You can provide extra value for customers who purchases your link by

  • providing a service such as setting up a wordpress blog if they purchase an Ebook on setting up a blog
  • Consultation services
  • Templates
  • Ebooks
  • monthly memberships
  • PLR content
  • Squeeze pages etc etc etc.

As an example, for readers if this blog, if you purchase the following Building a WordPress  Website, I will also set up your wordpress blog for your on your hosting account. Just email me your receipt and URL and I will set up the blog for you at no charge. This offer is valid for a limited time only. For the first 10 people who take me up on this offer, I will also provide you with an eBook that can help you turn your website or blog into an online atm.

A-Z Blog Challenge:Day 23:Writing For Dollars from Home

WRITING FOR DOLLARS FROM HOME

In Day 23 of the A-Z Blog Challenge, I like to share with you a

‘funded approach’ to affiliate marketing.

When you first begin your affiliate marketing journey, you may be short on cash.

However, if you have writing skills and are willing to do some research, you can

begin to earn some money on the side as a writer.

money

Here are some sites that pay you cash for posting your articles on their sites.

Infobarrel.com

This is a website that pays you based on a revenue-share model.

You are paid based on the number of views you have received on your articles.

So the more you write and the more catchy your headlines, the higher the chances

of your articles being read.

You can earn anywhere between $1 to as much as $16 per day from your articles.

And the best part of this is that the earnings are passive.

So in addition to writing articles to drive traffic to your website,

you can write a series of articles related to your affiliate product and earn

some pocket change in the side.

For instance, if you are promoting a ‘make money product’ online,

you can write articles on niche selection, keyword research,

ways to make money online and direct them to your affiliate product for more information.

If you are interested to make money from this approach, you can view more information

from this blog post by a fellow blogger who started earning money from writing.

eHow.com

This website is more stringent in its selection now. You need to apply as a writer and

provide three samples of your writing and your application will be screened before

they accept you. Once you are accepted as a writer in eHow, you can be assured of a steady

stream of work. They will pay more if you come up with the titles yourself.

On the writer’s dashboard, you will be able to find a selection of titles that needs to be written.

You will be paid upon article acceptance.

HubPages.com and Squidoo.com

These two websites are similar to Infobarrel  which has a revenue share model.

You are paid based on the ad revenue that your articles generate from your ‘lens’

or hubs on a particular niche topic.

In addition, you earn affiliate revenue on products that you recommend on your lens or hub.

So if you can write a hub/lens a day, you will have 365 ‘silent cash machines’ working for you

every day of the year. If you like to learn more about making money through  Hubpages, you can

read more about this Blogger’s experiment here

==>Make Money with HubPages

Payperpost.com

For those who are interested in writing for other people’s blogs, you can sign up for

an account with this website. Blog owners will post topics and subjects that they need written

and the amount they are willing to pay for it. So if you can write an article a day and earn between

$20 to $50 per blog post, you can earn a decent income upwards of $1,000 a month from home.

If you are hard working and can generate 2 articles a day, you can earn a decent side income of $3,000

or more. For more sites where bloggers are needed, you can view the Problogger.net Job postings.

Reviewme.com

This is a unique website that pays you for writing about products and services.

You can select from the products and services that needs to be reviewed and

write a post about 200 to 500 words giving your feedback on the product/service or

website. There are some web masters who can pay upwards of $500 for a short review of their

websites.

RealWritingJobs.com

For a real compilation of the sources where your articles will be accepted and the rates

you can earn, check out this eBook directory which list all the writing jobs that are

looking for writers. This is a paid website but is well worth every penny that you invest .

It list not only jobs by blogs looking for writers, but also list down the various offline publications

that are looking for writers. An ideal work -at-home gig you can start from home with little to no

investments.

Check out real writing jobs directory here

No matter which portal you choose to write for first, the first step to success is to …

.start

Take action for a tomorrow that is different from you Todays!
