A-Z Blog Challenge : Day 22: Viral Marketing on Steriod



IRAL MARKETING ON STEROIDS. In Day 22 of the A-Z Challenge which coincides with the letter V. I think the most appropriate topic to talk about is how to transform your marketing into a viral form of marketing that can spread like a ‘virus’ online.

By applying viral marketing to your blog or website, you can attract tons of traffic to your website. Well, if you have been following my blog, you know that traffic is the main source to increasing your cash flow. More traffic, more cash, and more money in the bank.


Now what is viral marketing you may ask?

Viral marketing refers to a strategy to encourage visitors to spread your marketing message.

Think ‘Tupperware’ as synonymous to plastic storage containers and Google to search. These are brand names that have become viral.


Here’s a few ways to make your marketing go viral

1Give away stuff for free

If you have written articles, eBooks or templates that will be useful to your subscribers or audience, you can give it away for free on your website. This allows you to build your subscriber’s list and at the same time if your freebie is of a high quality, you can attract lost of viral traffic as people start talking about the high quality of your free gift and how useful it has been for them.

2Make it easy for people to share

This is really self explanatory  if you allow people to easily share your marketing message via Twitter, Facebook or other Social 2.0 websites,you can encourage people to spread your messages wild and wide.This works especially well for sites such as Pinterest whereby you can  encourage visitors to share a picture or a funny graphic and very often the weirder it gets, the more attention it receives.



Do not forget to scale the systems and infrastructure that your marketing message is being distributed from. I remember once, when I was going a blog campaign to give away a free eBook on step-by-step methods for newbies to get started online, only to realize that my website was done only 2 hours into the campaign. The reason was due to the server’s inability to sustain the huge amounts of traffic that I was receiving at one time.

Remember Hotmail, when they started this viral campaign by putting a line at the bottom of every one’s email message to get Hotmail, this was how Hotmail became viral and the infrastructure was able to cope with the new load that it was attracting. Contrast this with the Netscape campaign. Netscape attracted lots of new users to use their then dial-up programme by giving a CD away for free, giving a free amount of dial-up service, only to find that the servers were not able to cope with the additional demand.

Nothing will irritate customers more than not being able to receive the service you need.

4Leverage on other people’s communication networks

Authors are very fond of using this method. Writers will usually distribute their content on other people’s magazines or ezines, hoping to leverage on their media and network to gain wider exposure for their writings.At the same time, you can also use the same strategy by contributing your content to other people’s blog as a guest post or contribute articles to article directories and videos on video sharing sites. By leveraging on other people’s network, your marketing will spread like a’virus’.

A-Z Blog Challenge Day 21: U Are the Key To Success


U Are The Key To Success

Yes you are the key to success in your own online enterprise. We cannot spell success without ‘U’.

Very often, we think that we need this gadget, this tool, and this new piece of information before we can make it online. And we wait till we have all the pieces of information before we begin to take action.

However, nothing is further from the truth. In order to succeed online, you need to to take action instead of waiting for everything to be right.

In fact the Number 1 reason why most people fail online is :Information overload. They are overloaded with non essential information and that is stopping them from achieving their online goals.

Here’ what you need to utilize in order to succeed online.

1Utilize what you have

Scan through your hard disk. See what content you have save or written before and list all these out. Next find out what software you already own and make a list of it. Use these resources first before you purchase anything. If you find any PLR or private label rights content, you can edit it and start sprucing up your blog or set a regular schedule to start posting new content on your blog.

Alternatively, if you have a mailing list, you can also share these information with your subscribers. To more you give, the more you receive.

2Utilize your skills

Everytime, I find myself procrastinating on my goals, I start to create a list that looks something like this

Traffic methods More subscribers

Online friends  
Ebooks and resources  

I list down the things that I have and the things that I need in order to succeed then I get to work on those things that I do not have. If I do not have the skills needed for the things that I lack, then I have a plan to outsource the things that I need to get done.

You can also utilize your skills, if you have writing skills, you can barter with someone with design skills to get your website done. Once you are clear on the skills that you have, you can barter for things that you need online especially if you are starting online.

3Utilize your resources

What resources do you have hiding inside you, your hard disk or your computer?

List the resources that you own that can help you advance your online business.

If you have an excess of stuff lying around in the house, you can convert these into resources by selling them away for money so you can fund your other research or purchases.

4Utilize Your Network

Who do you know who has the skills to help you in your online business? Do you have friends who are excellent writers and who can write a 500-word article without breaking a sweat?

Do you have friends who are very tech savvy who can help you set up web pages or a payment gateway for your products?

These are the people you need to speak to and solicit their help in order to succeed online. Or have you purchased products from another online Guru. Do you think you may have skills or products that you can joint venture with them for a launch?

In Day 21 of the A-Z Blog Challenge,  I hope you will utilize your skills, resources and network before you call it quits in your online business. A-Z Blog Challenge Day 20: Traffic. traffic , traffic your way to the gravy train



One of the key reasons why people do not make it online and drop out half-way is the lack of traffic.

Look, if you own a retail store, you need food traffic to your store, same if you own a cafe, restaurant or any other business either online or offline.

So why should it be any different when it comes to your online business?

Traffic is NUMEBRO UNO to the success of your online business.

Here’s what traffic can do for your online business

1Generate subscribers for your list

Yes, without traffic online, no one knows that you have built a website besies your Aunt Annie or family members whom you have told. That is fine if you are building a family blog to store memories or keep in touch with relatives who are staying apart in another city or another part of the world. However, if your main aim is to create a source of income online, then you absolutely need to have your selected audience know that you exist.

2Turning visitors into paying customers

Having traffic will allow you to turn visitors to your blog or website into paying customers eventually. How many times do we visit a website or blog and make a purchase immediately? I think the chances are very slim. Having traffic and a list allows you to build a list of subscribers and build a relationship with your subscribers before they learn to trust you and view you as the Guru or expert in that field. Once you are a recognized expert in that niche, you can attract buyers literally like ‘bees to honey’.

So how do you attract traffic to your website or blog

There are several ways to attract traffic to your website

  • Write and contribute articles.

This is one of the effective ways to generate traffic to your website if you have more time than money when you are just starting out online. I have used this strategy to begin building my list online when I started.However, this method is a lot slower and you have to write copies amounts of text before you can attract a huge list. Also the articles that you have written have to be related to the niche you are in or in complementary niches in order to yield the best effect for building your list.

  • Buy Ads

If you have more cash, you can begin by buying ads such as Google Adwords, Banner ads or blog ads on related websites or blogs with a link back to your blog or website squeeze page. This allows you to build your list of subscribers and you can continue to keep in touch with them.

  • Create a video with a link to your website

Another methods that I have seen friends use very effectively is the use of video marketing. What you do is to create a series of videos, each sharing one or two tips in a related topic in your niche. You can post it on Youtube, Vidmeo and all other video submission sites to drive traffic back to your website.

  • Create Facebook post

If you have a lot of Facebook Fans, you can do a short posting announcing the start if your website. This can drive visitors to your website.

  • Create a Squidoo Page

Squidoo allows you to promote one item or product online. However if you are using this as a traffic generation method, be sure to provide lots of valuable information with a link back to your squeeze page or website for more information. By using Squidoo,you are leveraging on the high PR page rank to drive traffic to you.

These are just some of the main traffic methods to drive traffic to your website. A-Z Blog Challenge: Day 19:Residual Income Ideas you can start this weekend.



Here’s a blog post that I wanted to share with you as some of your write back to say you need to get some cash flow coming in before you start and implement your own online business.
Instead of giving you homemade income ideas, I thought I will up the ante and give you a few ideas you can start this weekend that will bring in residual income that you can start from home with little to low -cost.

1 Start a home or office cleaning business on the side
What : You can start a home based cleaning company for homes or offices around your neighbourhood
What you need: Basic cleaning supplies, phone or Skype and a telephone list.
Where to get customers:
You can begin getting customers by calling your neighbourhood and posting flyers advertising your services. The most effective way is to go door-to-door to solicit for business. You can start a home based cleaning company for homes around your area very quickly. Another way is to insert flyers or promote with ads in community newspapers around your neigh hood.
If you are trying to start a cleaning business that serves the offices around your neighbourhood, you can simply call the office and ask for the person who is in-charge of hiring contractors for this service.
The way to get residual income from this service is to sell long term contracts of three month contracts, six month contracts and even an annual contract.

2 Start a window/car washing business


What: You will be washing windows or cars for others.

What you need: cleaning equipment for windows and cleaning and waxing equipment for cars. If you are cleaning external windows for buildings, you might also need to invest in a Gondola.

Where to get customers: This is a fast business that you can get started quite quickly. You can locate business or homes in your areas and ask them if they need their windows washed. You can offer a special low-cost one time service of $20 for window washing. While you are there, you can also help them clean up other areas such as the window ledge or maybe take out the trash on your way out. Thereafter, you can negotiate for a long time contract and encourage them to purchase 3 or 6 time window washing service. The same applies for car washing but you can negotiate with auto dealers to refer clients to you in exchange for a referral fee. Alternatively, you can offer these packages to auto dealers who can offer this as a gift for their clients who purchased cars from them.

3 Sell insurance online
This is an effective residual income opportunity for those who have the necessary knowledge or who are inclined to learn about the insurance industry. Most people now search for insurance plans online and this is an opportunity for you to promote insurance online.


What you will need: Content, lots of relevant content that is beneficial to readers. Online calculators and a website for customers to contact you. The best insurance to sell online include travel insurance, auto insurance as these are often renewed on an annual basis and some insurance companies offer you a residual sum for every policy that is renewed. So the longer you stay in this industry, the easy works gets as you progress.

Where to get customers: You can get customers through online content or do joint ventures with related websites such as travel websites.

4 Start a membership site



What: Start a membership site around your expertise or hobby.

What you will need: Membership site software.
If you have a particular expertise in a certain area, you can put your expertise in the forms of an ebook, videos and audios and put it in a membership site that is available for purchase through a subscription. Other hobby websites that do well include membership sites with information on taxidermy, scrapbooking etc.
